At the Bootle dojo the club had a ceremony on Wednesday 6 March to thank Mark Best for his support and help to the club. Mark was presented with a document recognising his honorific of Sempai.
The document was given to Mark by Sensei Jane Saunders and Shihan Peter Smith.
On Saturday 9 March Mark was presented to the juniors at the Litherland dojo, so they were aware of Mark's honorific.
Sempai (it can also be spelled as senpai) translates as 'senior' or 'mentor'. In martial arts it is a title used when addressing a senior person who provides help and guidance.
